With additional options you extend the booking of a service with three things: Products (extras like drinks, towels or equipment), Additional Resources (booked along as a sub-booking for the same period) and Recommended Resources (suggested at checkout as a booking of their own). You create products centrally under Products. Which additional options a service offers, you set in the service’s Additional options tab.
The Additional options tab only appears once the feature is active. In the sidebar, open Apps & Integrations, select the anny Apps category and open Additional service options. Turn on Enable for your organization there.

How do additional options work?

Products

Products are extras that customers add to a service while booking. Availability is unlimited, and billing is based on the selected quantity and the stored price. You find all products of your organization in the sidebar under Products. The table shows each product’s group, price and price type, and whether it is featured or provided by a third party. Use the Group, Featured and Third party filters to narrow down the list.

The process:
  1. You create a product with a name, price and rules.
  2. You assign it to one or more services.
  3. Customers see the product when booking these services and can add it.
  4. Billing happens automatically based on quantity and price.

Price types

With Add stagger price you set a lower price from a certain quantity. From that quantity, the stagger price applies to the entire quantity. Example: a yoga mat costs €3, from 5 items €2.50 each. Booking 6 mats costs €15. With Hide price customers see no price, for example when the final price is only known after the booking.

Product groups

You can sort products into groups, e.g. “Drinks” or “Equipment”. Groups are optional. To create a new group, type a new name directly into a product’s Group field. You manage all groups in the Settings under the Groups tab in Product groups.

Additional Resources

Additional resources are booked together with the service. Customers pick them after the date. The resource is attached to the main booking as a sub-booking and always shares its period (Same period). If the main booking changes, the sub-booking adjusts. You cannot change the sub-booking’s date on its own. Recommended resources are offered at checkout as separate bookings. For each recommendation you choose the Preselected service and the Period relative to the booking of the service. Customers add the recommendation to the cart as a booking of its own.

When do I use this?

  • You offer extras for a booking (e.g. drinks, rental equipment, a catering flat rate): use Products.
  • You want to firmly couple another resource to the booking (e.g. a second room for the same period): use Additional Resources.
  • You want to suggest complementary offers that work as a booking of their own (e.g. a parking space or a room after the class): use Recommended Resources.
  • Not suitable for: dependent resources that should be blocked invisibly in the background (e.g. a room booked along automatically). Use Smart Availability for that.

Relationship with other features

  • Smart Availability: Smart Availability blocks resources in the background. Additional options are visible and selectable for customers.
  • Modifying bookings: if Allow editing of service options after booking is on in the service’s Change & cancellation tab, customers can adjust their products themselves after booking.
  • Dynamic pricing: product prices are independent of the service’s dynamic price modifiers.
  • Recurring bookings: products are carried over per appointment in a series and can be adjusted per appointment.

Create a product

Open Products

In the sidebar, open Products and click New. A window for creating the product opens.

Set name and group

Enter a Name, optionally choose a Group and click Save. The detail page of the new product opens.

Complete the general information

Upload a Cover image if needed and add a Subtitle and Description. Customers see these texts when choosing.

Set the price

Under Pricing, choose the price type, enter the price and check the Tax rate. Add stagger prices if needed. The price now appears at the top below the product name.

Set quantities and rules

Open Quantities & preselection and Booking & billing and adjust the settings. Save your changes with Save at the top right.

Assign services

Go to the Services section and select the services that offer the product under All services on the right. The services appear in the list on the left.

Set up the additional options of a service

Open the service

In the sidebar, open Services, select the service and switch to the Additional options tab. You see the Products, Additional Resources and Recommended Resources sections.

Assign products

In the Products section, click the plus icon next to a product under All products on the right, or drag it to the left. With New you create a new product right here. The product now appears in the service’s list on the left.

Set the order

Drag the products on the left by their handle into the order you want. Customers see them in this order while booking.

Add resources

In the Additional Resources and Recommended Resources sections, add resources from All resources the same way. For recommended resources, then choose the Preselected service and Period.

Save

Click Save at the top right. The additional options now appear when this service is booked.

Assignment works in both directions: on the product you choose the services, on the service you choose the products. You always set the order of the products on the respective service.

Practical examples

A studio wants to offer yoga mats and drinks with class bookings.

Create the products

Open Products, click New and create “Yoga mat rental” with the group “Equipment”. Under Pricing, set a Price per unit of €3 and add a stagger price from 5 items. Create “Protein shake” with the group “Drinks” the same way.

Assign them to the class

Under Services, open the class, switch to the Additional options tab and add both products from All products. The products now appear in the list on the left.

Test

Open the booking page and book the class. The products are shown during booking.
A conference center offers a meeting room booked for the same period as the main room.

Open the service

Under Services, open the service of the main room and switch to the Additional options tab.

Add an additional resource

In the Additional Resources section, add the meeting room from All resources and save. The room carries the Same period label.

Test

Create a test booking. After the date selection, the meeting room appears as an option. If you select it, a sub-booking is created for the period of the main booking.

FAQ

Yes. In the admin, the former add-ons are now called Products. You find them in the sidebar under Products and in the Products section of a service’s Additional options tab.
Additional options are visible and selectable for customers. Smart Availability blocks resources invisibly in the background (e.g. a dependent room).
Yes, if Allow editing of service options after booking is on in the service’s Change & cancellation tab.
Yes. Enable Hide price when the final price is only known later, e.g. for usage-based billing. Customers then see no price.
Always apply appears once Min Quantity is greater than 0 and is on by default. Then the product is preselected at the minimum quantity and cannot be deselected. If you turn it off, the product stays optional: customers select it themselves, and only then does the minimum apply. The same rule applies per appointment in a series.
From the quantity entered under From quantity, the stagger price applies to all units, not just the additional ones. With several tiers, the highest tier reached applies.

Troubleshooting

The feature is not active. Under Apps & Integrations, in the anny Apps category, enable the Additional service options app.
Check whether the product is assigned to the correct service. It must be on the left in the service’s Additional options tab or listed in the product’s Services section. Products that only appear under All products are not assigned to any service yet.
The product’s lead time is probably not met. Check the required lead time under Booking & billing: if the booking is too short notice, the product is not offered.
