With add-ons you extend the booking process with three options: Add-ons (optional extras like catering or equipment), Additional resources (sub-bookings that stay in sync with the main booking) and Recommended resources (suggestions for separate bookings in the cart). You configure all three areas in the Add-ons tab of a booking option.
Activate the feature first under Avatar (top right) → Account settingsFeaturesAdd-ons.

How do add-ons work?

The Add-ons tab of a booking option is split into three sections:

Add-ons

Add-ons are optional extras that customers actively select during booking. You create them globally and assign them to individual booking options by drag and drop. Availability is unlimited, and billing is based on the selected quantity and the stored price. The process:
  1. You create an add-on with a name, image, price and settings
  2. You assign it to one or more booking options
  3. Customers see the add-on during booking and can add it
  4. Billing happens automatically based on quantity and price

Pricing types

Optionally, you can add a tiered price (an additional price from a certain quantity) and hide the price, for example when the final price depends on usage and is only known later.

Groups

Add-ons can be organized into groups (e.g. “Catering”, “Equipment”). Groups help with internal overview and allow targeted selection in exports.

Additional resources

Additional resources are resources booked together with the main booking. They are shown as options after the date selection and attached to the main booking as a sub-booking. The sub-booking is always synced with the time frame of the main booking. The process:
  1. You add an additional resource in the Add-ons tab
  2. Customers see the option after the date selection
  3. On selection, a sub-booking is created whose time frame stays synced with the main booking
Recommended resources are suggestions shown at checkout. Customers can add them to the cart as separate bookings. You define the recommended booking time relative to the main booking. The process:
  1. You add a recommended resource and select the resource and the service
  2. You define the time frame relative to the main booking
  3. Customers see the recommendation at checkout and can add it to the cart as a separate booking

Time frame options

When do I use this?

  • You offer optional extras for a booking (e.g. drinks, a moderation case, a catering flat rate): use add-ons.
  • You want to firmly couple an additional resource to a booking (e.g. a second conference room for the same time frame): use additional resources.
  • You want to suggest complementary offers that work as a standalone booking (e.g. parking, dinner after the meeting): use recommended resources.
  • Not suitable for: dependent resources that should be blocked invisibly in the background (e.g. a room booked along automatically). Use Smart Availability for that.

Relationship with other features

  • Smart Availability: Smart Availability blocks resources in the background. Add-ons are visible and selectable for customers.
  • Modifying bookings: if later editing of add-ons is enabled under the Modification & cancellation tab of the booking option, customers can adjust add-ons themselves after booking.
  • Dynamic pricing: add-on prices are independent of the booking option’s dynamic price modifiers.
  • Recurring bookings: add-ons are carried over per appointment in a series and can be adjusted per appointment.

FAQ

Add-ons are optional extras without their own booking (e.g. catering). Additional resources create a sub-booking that stays synced with the main booking in time. Recommended resources are suggested at checkout and added to the cart as a standalone, separate booking.
Add-ons are visible and selectable for customers. Smart Availability blocks resources invisibly in the background (e.g. a dependent room). These are two different concepts.
Yes, if later editing of add-ons is enabled in the booking option settings under the Modification & cancellation tab.
Yes. Enable “Hide price” when the final price is only known later (e.g. usage-based billing). Customers then see no price in the booking flow.
Yes. The sub-booking of an additional resource is always synced with the time frame of the main booking. If the main booking changes, the sub-booking adjusts.

Troubleshooting

Check whether the add-on is assigned to the correct booking option by drag and drop (on the left in the Add-ons tab). Add-ons on the right side are only created globally but not yet assigned.
The lead time of the add-on may not be met. Check the configured lead time: if the booking is too short notice, the add-on is not offered.
