With minimum and maximum selection you control, per booking option, how many units can be selected at minimum or maximum within an order. This way you map group rules and quantity limits directly into the booking flow.

How does minimum and maximum selection work?

You define an individual minimum and/or maximum value for each booking option. These values are checked directly during booking:
  • If the selected quantity is below the min. selection, the order cannot be completed.
  • If the selected quantity is above the max. selection, that number is prevented in the booking flow.
The limits always apply per booking option and per order. Each booking option can have its own values, independent of other options of the same service.

When do I use this?

  • You offer group rates: make sure a booking is only possible from a certain number of people (e.g. group trip from 6 people).
  • You want quantity limits per order: limit how many tickets or spots a single person can book at once.
  • You have minimum order quantities: prevent single bookings for offers that are only worthwhile from a certain quantity.
  • Not suitable for: global booking limits per time period. Use booking rules instead (Account settings → Booking rules).

Relationship with other features

  • Booking rules: while minimum/maximum selection controls the quantity per individual order, booking rules limit the total number of bookings per time period account-wide.
  • Booking quotas: quotas limit the total available quantity of a booking option. Min/max selection, by contrast, controls how much of it may be booked in a single order.

Settings & options

You find the settings under Resources → booking option → Advanced settings.
Both fields are optional. You can set only a minimum or only a maximum, without defining the other value.

Practical examples

A diving center offers group trips that are only worthwhile from 6 people. A maximum of 20 people can take part.

Open the booking option

Open Resources → the relevant resource → booking option Group Trip.

Open Advanced settings

Scroll to Advanced settings.

Set the min. and max. selection

Set Min. selection per order to 6 and Max. selection per order to 20.

Save

Click Save. Customers can now only book the group trip for 6 to 20 people.
A yoga studio wants to prevent a person from booking more than 3 drop-in spots at once.

Open Resources → the relevant resource → booking option Drop-In.

Scroll to Advanced settings.

Set the max. selection

Set Min. selection per order to 1 and Max. selection per order to 3.

Save

Click Save. A maximum of 3 drop-in tickets can now be booked per order.

FAQ

Per booking option. If you have several booking options on a service, each can have its own min/max values.
Then there is no upper limit (except the resource’s available capacity). Conversely, only a maximum without a minimum means bookings can start from 1 unit.
Yes. If the selection is below the minimum, the order cannot be completed. If it is above the maximum, the input is prevented in the booking flow.
Yes. Min/max selection is independent of whether the booking option has a price or not.

Troubleshooting

Check whether the booking option shows a quantity selection in the booking flow at all. For booking options with a weight of 1 and no quantity selection, the fields have no effect.
Make sure you applied the setting to the correct booking option. The limits apply per booking option, not per service or resource.
