With Exclusive slots, you decide that a time slot is treated as fully booked for further orders after the first booking. This keeps the time slot reserved exclusively for one customer group, even when there are technically still free spots. The same principle applies to tables, boats, or lanes: the group stays to itself.
The feature Multiple availability of resources or Multiple availability with assignment must be activated in your account under Account settings → Features.

How do Exclusive Time Slots work?

As soon as the first order comes in for a time slot, that slot is locked for all further orders. In concrete terms this means:
  • The first order can still use several spots within this time slot.
  • Further external bookings for the same time slot are no longer allowed.
  • In the admin area, the actual utilization stays visible (for example 2 of 4 spots taken).
For Child Resources, this applies per table, boat, or lane, not to the whole parent resource. Within one order, anny first fills a child resource up to its Available quantity and only then takes the next one. Other orders do not get a child resource that already has a booking in this period. This keeps the group to itself within the time slot, without you having to block the time slot manually.
“Fully booked” here does not mean the full capacity was reached. The time slot is reserved exclusively for one order.

When do I use this?

  • Activities with group logic, where several spots per slot exist but should only be used together by one order (for example axe-throwing lanes, escape rooms).
  • Rental offers, where one object can hold several people but should not be shared between different groups (for example canoes, boats, pedal boats).
  • Tables in restaurants or event venues, where each table belongs to only one company or customer group, but a group may book several tables in one order.
  • Group tours and guided tours, where a time slot should stay fully reserved for one closed group (for example museum tours, city tours).
  • Course offers with exclusive booking, where an organization or group books an entire course slot for themselves.
Not suitable for: Offers where different customers should deliberately share the same slot (for example open fitness classes, study spaces in libraries). Also not suitable: all seats as one multiply available resource (for example 440 seats) when Exclusive slots is on. Then the first order locks the entire room.

Settings & options

You will find Exclusive slots under Resource → Availability → Multiple available. For Child Resources, look under Resource → Availability, type Child Resources. The same path is used for Customer may choose options, when that toggle is visible.

Practical examples

You have 44 tables with 10 seats each. Mixed groups or companies should not sit at the same table. A group may still book several tables in one order, for example 5 tables with 45 people.The booking quantity is the number of people or seats, not the number of tables. If you create 44 tables with Available quantity 1 and name the option “Seat per person” with a maximum of 10, a guest who books 10 people takes 10 tables.

Enable the feature

Under Account settings → Features, enable Multiple availability with assignment.

Create the parent resource

Open Resources → New+. Give it a name (for example “Tables”). Under Availability, choose Child Resources.

Create 44 tables as child resources

Click Add child-resources. In the text field, one line such as Table 1-44 is enough. Confirm with Create child-resources.

Set 10 seats per table

In the child table, set Available quantity to 10 on every table. New child resources start with quantity 1. The Exclusive slots toggle only appears once at least one table has a quantity greater than 1.

Enable Exclusive slots

Enable Exclusive slots on the parent resource under Availability. anny assigns tables automatically. Customer may choose options is hidden when quantity is greater than 1.

Set the maximum group size

Set Allowed bookings per order on the parent resource to the largest group you want to allow (for example 50 or 440). The value 10 caps the whole order at 10 seats, not 10 seats per table.

Create the booking option

Create a booking option (for example “Seat”) with Booking type Default. Optionally set a price per person and Min. booking quantity per order to 1.
Once this setup is active, guests book the number of people. Within one order, anny fills tables in sequence (10, 10, 10, …). The shop currently caps 20 seats per order because of the request timeout; 45 people in one pass need the bulk path used for series bookings.More on the resource structure: Configure a resource. More on the booking option: Booking option. With Exclusive slots, the quantity cap per order lives on the resource. See Minimum and maximum selection.
Do not create the 440 seats as one Multiple available resource with Exclusive slots. The first order would lock the entire room. You need Exclusive slots per table, so as Child Resources.
In this example, canoes are created as Child Resources. In addition, a canoe tour is made bookable as its own group offer.

Create the canoe resource

Create a resource for the canoes. Go to Resource → Availability, type Child Resources, and create the following child resources:
  • Canoe 1
  • Canoe 2
  • Canoe 3
  • Canoe 4
Set the Available quantity to 4 for each child resource (spots per canoe).

Activate Exclusive slots

Enable Exclusive slots under Resource → Availability. anny assigns canoes automatically once the child resources have an Available quantity greater than 1.

Configure the booking option

Create a booking option (for example “Rental”) with the following settings:
  • Price per person or per canoe, depending on your rate
  • Min. booking quantity per order: 1
  • Booking type: Default (each person or seat is one capacity unit)

Create the canoe tour resource (optional)

Create a separate resource “Canoe tour”. Under Availability → Multiple available, you define:
  • Available quantity: 16
  • Allowed bookings per order: 16
Create two booking options:
  1. Individual rate (Min. booking quantity per order: 1)
  2. Group rate from 4 people (Min. booking quantity per order: 4)
Under Resource → Dependencies, link the canoe resource. This way a matching canoe is automatically reserved along with each group booking and, thanks to Exclusive slots, is not shared with other groups.
Once rental and Exclusive slots are active, a group first fills one canoe up to 4 spots and takes the next canoe if needed. Other orders do not get a canoe that is already occupied.
A time slot should be fully reserved for one visitor group, even when not all spots are taken.

Create the resource

Create a resource “Group tour”. Under Availability → Multiple available, you define:
  • Available quantity: 20
  • Allowed bookings per order: 20
  • Exclusive slots: enabled

Configure the booking option

Create a booking option “Ticket” and open the advanced settings:
  • Min. booking quantity per order: 10
  • Booking type: Default
This means at least 10 tickets must sit in one order. As soon as one group books, the time slot is locked for other orders. Free spots in the same order remain usable.
Once ticket and Exclusive slots are active, each tour stays closed to other customers after the first order.

FAQ

In this case, “fully booked” means the time slot is already reserved exclusively for one order. It does not mean all available spots are taken.
The quantity on the booking option counts capacity units of the resource. If you have 44 tables with Available quantity 1, one unit is a whole table. 10 people then occupy 10 tables. Set Available quantity to 10 per table and enable Exclusive slots. Then 10 people are 10 seats at one table.
The resource logic allows it: in the same order, anny fills tables up to 10 seats and then takes the next one. Allowed bookings per order must be at least 45. The shop booking flow additionally caps 20 seats per order so cart and checkout stay inside the request timeout. 45 people in one pass need the same bulk path as series bookings.
440 seats as one Multiple available resource without Child Resources would, with Exclusive slots, lock the entire room after the first order. Child Resources with 10 seats per table keep exclusivity on the individual table. Other tables stay free for other groups.
Yes. In the admin area, the actual occupancy stays visible (for example 2/4 taken). Only for external customers does the slot appear as fully booked.
No. As soon as child resources have an Available quantity greater than 1, anny hides Customer may choose options and assigns automatically. Otherwise you find the toggle under Resource → Availability.

Troubleshooting

This is expected behavior with Exclusive slots activated. The time slot was already reserved exclusively by an order and is therefore no longer bookable for other customers. In the admin area, you still see the actual occupancy.
For Multiple available without children, the toggle appears when Available quantity is greater than 1. In Child Resources mode it appears once at least one child resource has an Available quantity greater than 1. Check both under Resource → Availability.
The child resources have Available quantity 1, so one booking unit is a table. Set the quantity per table to 10 (seats) and enable Exclusive slots. Do not set Allowed bookings per order to 10 if groups larger than 10 people should be able to book.
Check that Exclusive slots is on for the parent resource and that the child resources have an Available quantity greater than 1. Do not set Booking type to Full: that blocks the entire parent resource instead of individual tables.
