Use QR code tickets for entry at events, workshops and courses with automatic attendance control.
With this guide, you set up a ticket-based check-in for events, workshops or courses. In the end, participants receive a QR code ticket at booking that is scanned at entry, and you always have an overview of attendance.
With ticketing, anny maps the entry process digitally. The central principle: every event or course is a resource with limited capacity, every ticket sold a booking with a QR code, and the Check-In terminal at entry checks validity.

Meaning in ticketing
Resource
A venue, room or area (e.g. “Hall A”)
Booking option
A ticket type (e.g. “Standard ticket”, “VIP ticket”, “Workshop seat”)
Multiple availability
Maximum participant capacity
QR code ticket
Confirmation with a scan code that participants receive at booking
Check-In app
Terminal or handheld scanner at entry
Participants book through the booking area (booking page, widget or app). You manage everything in the admin area (resources, bookings, displays, occupancy).
Open Resources and create a resource for the venue (e.g. “Hall A” or “Workshop room”). Under Availability, set it to Multiple availability and set the number to the maximum participant capacity. Under Check-In, enable check-in.
2
Create a booking option
Create one or more booking options as ticket types (e.g. “Standard ticket” with a fixed duration by schedule). Configure the price (free or paid) and set Automatically accept all bookings.
3
Configure forms for participant data (optional)
If you want to ask for participant data only at entry (e.g. dietary preferences for the workshop catering), create a custom form and set the query time to Later (at check-in).
4
Set up the terminal
Set up a Check-In terminal according to Set Up a Check-In Terminal. Choose the mode Check-In. For events with free entry and walk-in visitors, alternatively: Personalized registration and Check-In, so participants can also register spontaneously on-site.
5
Set the check-in period
Under Resource > Check-In, configure the check-in period (e.g. from 30 minutes before the event start). This way entry opens only shortly before the event.
6
Test
Create a test booking, check whether the QR code ticket is sent by email, and scan it at the terminal. Check whether the check-in is confirmed and the capacity is reduced correctly.
For events with different ticket categories (e.g. Standard and VIP), create separate booking options with different prices or quotas on the same resource.
A workshop provider sells 30 seats online. On the event day, participants scan their QR ticket at the entrance.
1
Resource and booking option
Resource “Workshop room” with 30 seats (Multiple availability: 30). Booking option “Workshop ticket” with a fixed duration by schedule, price e.g. 49 euros, automatically accept.
2
Terminal mode
Mode: Check-In. Only participants with a valid QR code ticket can check in. No spontaneous entry.
3
Form at check-in
Optional: configure dietary preferences as a custom form with the query time “Later (at check-in)”, so the entry is made only at the entrance.
Open event with on-site registration
A community event offers free entry. Participants can book online in advance or register spontaneously at the entrance.
1
Resource and booking option
Resource “Event hall” with 200 seats. Booking option “Free entry” with a fixed duration by schedule, free, automatically accept.
2
Terminal mode
Mode: Personalized registration and Check-In. Participants with a booking scan their QR code, spontaneous guests enter their email and are registered on-site.
3
Capacity in real time
The dashboard shows you live how many seats are still free. Once the capacity is reached, no further registrations are allowed at the terminal.
Can I prevent a ticket from being scanned multiple times?
Yes. By default, a QR code is valid only once. Only when you enable Multiple Check-In in the resource settings can a ticket be scanned repeatedly.
How do I handle different ticket categories?
Create a separate booking option per category on the same resource (e.g. “Standard” and “VIP”). Each category can have its own price and its own quota.
Can I limit entry by time?
Yes. Configure the check-in period under Resource, Check-In. Entry opens only within this time window.
What happens when the capacity is reached?
Once all seats are taken, no further bookings or registrations can be made at the terminal. Online, the booking option is also marked as fully booked.
Can I check in participants manually afterwards?
Yes. Open the booking in the admin area and perform the check-in directly in the booking details.
