So your anny AI assistant can take calls without you changing your public phone number, you set up call forwarding. Incoming calls to your existing number are then forwarded automatically to the anny AI number.

Requirements

  • anny AI is activated and you have received your anny AI phone number (found under Organization settings > anny AI).
  • You have access to your phone or to the management interface of your phone provider.
  • The anny AI number is in international format (e.g. +49221…).

Which type of forwarding suits you?

Depending on your situation, you can use different forwarding types:
The most popular option is “on no answer”. This way you can pick up the phone yourself if you want, and anny AI only steps in when you’re unavailable.

How to set up forwarding

Setup depends on your device or provider. Below you’ll find the most common methods.

Via GSM code (works with most mobile and landline providers)

Open the phone app and enter the matching code to activate forwarding:
Always enter the anny AI number in international format (with +49 instead of 0).
Open the phone app and enter the matching code to deactivate forwarding: Open the phone app and enter the matching code to check the status:
If you use call forwarding to anny, make sure the forwarding is set up directly in your phone provider’s network. If the forwarding is configured locally on a device (for example a FRITZ!Box), the target device only transmits your own landline number instead of the caller’s original phone number. anny then cannot correctly identify the caller.

Via iPhone settings

  1. Open Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
  2. Turn on Call Forwarding.
  3. Enter the anny AI number in international format.
  4. Confirm your entry.
Via the iPhone settings, only immediate forwarding can be configured. For conditional forwarding (on busy, on no answer), use the GSM codes above.

Via Android settings

  1. Open the phone app > Settings (three dots) > Call settings.
  2. Tap Call forwarding.
  3. Choose the forwarding type you want (always/on busy/on no answer/on unreachable).
  4. Enter the anny AI number and confirm.
The exact path can vary depending on your Android version and manufacturer.

Via phone system or VoIP provider

If you use a phone system (e.g. Fritz!Box, Sipgate, Placetel, Starface), configure call forwarding in your provider’s management interface:
  1. Log in to your phone provider’s admin interface.
  2. Navigate to the call forwarding settings.
  3. Enter the anny AI number as the forwarding target.
  4. Choose the condition you want (always, on busy, on no answer).
  5. Save the setting.
With VoIP systems, you can often set up time-based forwarding, for example only outside business hours. That way anny AI automatically takes over after hours.
Once setup is complete, calls to your existing number are forwarded to anny AI according to the condition you chose. Your customers notice no change. They still call your familiar number and are connected automatically to your AI assistant.
The number that forwards calls, for example the public number of your reception, cannot then be reused as a target for call transfer.

FAQ

This can happen because the number was entered in national format (0221…) instead of international format (+49221…). To fix it, always enter the anny AI number with the country code.
This can be because your mobile provider blocks forwarding to certain numbers, or the service isn’t included in your plan. To resolve it, contact your provider and ask whether call forwarding to landline numbers is possible.
This is because “immediate forwarding” is active instead of “on no answer”. Deactivate immediate forwarding (#21#) and set up forwarding on no answer instead (*61[number]_11_20#).
