In this article, you will learn everything you need to set up and configure the anny Check-In app.

Download and install the app

You can find the anny Check-In app for iOS and Android in the App Store or Google Play Store. You can download it here.


Pairing the app

Open the anny Check-In on your tablet. When you open it for the first time, the QR code and number code for pairing will be displayed here.

  1. For anny.eu and on-prem customers, select your data host region/domain in advance.

  2. Now open your anny admin area in the web browser on another desktop to connect your resources to your display.

  3. Select the Displays tab in the navigation bar on the left.

  4. Click on the "Pair Display App" button at the top right and enter the 6-digit code that the app shows you.


Settings on the tablet

After entering the PIN (in the admin area at the top right), the following app settings can be changed by touching the cogwheel at the top right:

  • Display name

    • By default a species name of a butterfly, can be customized as desired

  • Working hours

    • The activity times of the terminal can be set here

  • Printer

    • Printers can be connected here via USB, WLAN and/or Bluetooth to print ID cards or name tags

      • Select a printer and the label size and/or label type.

Important: If you want to connect a printer via Bluetooth, you must first connect it to the tablet via your tablet's Bluetooth settings.

  • Camera location

    • The orientation of the camera can be set here to show a QR code and arrow on the display pointing to the camera

  • Reset display

    • Here you can reset the app to factory settings, all settings will be lost.

Now the work in the Display App is done, further configurations are made in the admin area and can also be carried out remotely.

The PIN is set the first time the settings are opened


Configuration in the admin area

Settings

The added terminal can now be configured under the Displays tab in the anny admin area.

In the general settings you will find the PIN, and you can define the following settings:

  • Time zone:

    • To guarantee that the booking times are displayed correctly, it is. It is critical to enter the correct time zone in which the display is located.

  • Supported languages:

    • One or more languages can be stored here, which the customer can then select on the terminal itself. If there are several languages, a default language must be selected in the admin area.

Note: It is best to add all individual text fields to the app in all selected languages.

  • Scanner type:

    • Integrated camera: Uses the integrated camera of the end device/terminal

      • Position: The position of the camera can be defined here

    • External scanner (HID mode): An external scanner can be connected to the device and set up via the device itself

      • Position: The position of the scanner can be set here

    • Check-In:

      • Event check-in OR library setup with advance reservation only

    • Check-Out:

      • Just a check-out screen, e.g. libraries that have 2 screens

    • Check-In & Check-Out:

      • Libraries only with pre-registration, and check-out

    • Personalized registration & check-in

      • Visitor management

    • Personalized registration, check-in & check-out:

      • Visit management with time tracking, libraries with on-site seat reservation

    • Anonymous registration & check-in

      • queueing system

    • Anonymous registration & check-out

    • Out of order

  • Text after successful check-in:

    • You can display a message after check-in.

      For example, "Please wait until you are picked up."


Start screen (optional)

Here you can add your own welcome text and subtitles.

Important: If additional languages are supported, these languages should also be entered here in any text fields.

A separate logo can also be uploaded.

A background image or video can also be uploaded or simply a single-colored background can be selected. In addition, the text color on the welcome screen can be customized.


Customize design

Here you can customize everything as you wish to implement a corporate design.

The settings include

  • Accent color

  • Text color

  • Secondary text color

  • Text color of the primary buttons

  • Background color of the input fields

  • Opacity of the input fields

  • Background color

You can also select a separate logo and a different background image, as on the home screen:


Check-In:

Create resource(s)

Select one or more resources, make sure that:

  • The availability of the resource(s) is set to multiple (resource settings)

  • Name/description etc. are created in all available languages

  • Check-in is activated in the resource settings

Create services

Services /visit types could be, for example, a visit from family & friends or a consultation appointment. It is important to note the service settings:

  • The service should be free of charge

  • It should have a fixed or flexible duration

  • And accept all bookings automatically,

Pro tip: the default settings fulfill these criteria.

Print template (optional)

In the resource selection for the display, you can also select a

  • Badge

  • Label

  • Ticket

  • or ID card

to be printed.

To do this, you go to "Select" and create a template.

Note: The text field allows you to add variables. Simply start with a # and then make a selection. It is then critical that the linked field is a mandatory field in the checkout process, so that it is always queried and thus filled in so that there is no empty field on the badge.

How does check-in or registration at the tablet/terminal work?

  • Check-In: Here, the user is asked to scan their QR code or enter the email that was used for the booking. The customer is then checked in and sees a "Success Screen".

  • Check-Out: Here the user is asked to scan their QR code or enter the email that was used for the booking. The customer is then checked out and sees a "Success Screen".

  • Check-In & Check-Out: The customer sees a selection where they have to decide between check-in and check-out. They are then asked to enter their email address or scan the QR code and check in or check out.

  • Personalized registration & check-in: The customer is asked to scan their QR code or enter an email address. When the e-mail address is entered, the system checks whether there is an appointment for this e-mail address or not.

    • If there is an appointment, the customer is checked in,

    • If there is no appointment, the customer's data (setting on resource) is requested.

  • Personalized registration, check-in & check-out: Here the customer sees a selection and must choose between check-in and check-out.

    • At check-in, the customer is asked to scan their QR code or enter an email address. When the email address is entered, the system checks whether or not there is an appointment for this email address.

      • If there is an appointment, the customer is checked in.

      • If there is no appointment, the customer's data (setting on resource) is requested.

    • At check-out, the customer is also asked to enter their email address or scan the QR code and is then checked out.

  • Personalized registration & check-out: Here the customer sees a selection and has to select between check-in or check-out.

    • At check-in, the customer is asked to scan their QR code or enter an email address. Customer-related data (setting, resource) is then requested, among other things.

    • At check-out, the customer is asked to enter their email address or scan the QR code and is then checked out.

  • Anonymous registration & check-in: Here the customer sees a selection and must select "With appointment" or "Without appointment".

    • If the customer does not have an appointment, their data (setting in the resource) is requested here.

    • If they have an appointment, they are asked to enter their e-mail address and are checked in.

  • Anonymous registration & check-out: Here the customer sees a selection and has to select check-in or check-out. During check-in, non-customer-related data is requested.

  • Out of order: no action possible
