# Two-Factor Authentication

> Secure your anny account beyond the password with 2FA, and enforce it for your whole organization as an admin.

With **two-factor authentication (2FA)**, you secure your anny account beyond the password. Through a second confirmation step, you prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your data, even if your password should become known.

## What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication is an additional security layer for your login. This means:

* you sign in as usual with your email address and your password
* afterwards, you confirm your sign-in with an additional factor, for example a security code

This prevents other people from logging in to your account with your password alone.

## What is the feature helpful for?

This feature is relevant for all users and administrators within anny to maximize account security.

* Admins who have access to sensitive booking and customer data.
* Providers who process payments through anny.
* Team members in organizations with high security standards.
* End users who want to protect their personal booking profile.

2FA is the standard for modern data security on the web.

## Where can I activate two-factor authentication in anny?

You can either set up two-factor authentication for yourself personally, or enforce it for your entire organization as an admin.

### Activate personal 2FA

You can activate two-factor authentication in two places:

1. **In the admin area:** In the admin area, open your [profile](https://app.anny.co/user) and activate [two-factor authentication](https://auth.anny.co/two-factor-settings) there
2. **Via the customer profile:** End users can additionally secure their own account by clicking [Manage two-factor authentication](https://auth.anny.co/two-factor-settings) in the settings of their [Personal information](https://anny.co/profile?setting=personal)

### Enforce two-factor authentication for the entire organization

You can also enforce two-factor authentication for the entire organization. You can define whether this applies to everyone or only to administrators of the organization.

1. In the **admin area**, navigate to the **organization settings** and then to **SSO & Security**.
2. Scroll down to the **additional security options** section.
3. Now, under "**Enforce two-factor authentication**", choose whether it should apply only to admins or to all users of the organization.
