# Introduction to Study Space Booking

> Book your study space at the university via the anny app or in the browser: list, map and check-in.

With anny, you book your study space in the university library quickly and easily. You can book via the list view or the interactive map view and check in on-site yourself.

  Download the anny app from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/anny/id6448261664) or [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.anny.app). When signing in, make sure you have selected the right data region (usually EU+).

## Book a study space via the list view

  <Step title="Open Discover">
    Open the anny app or the booking page in the browser and go to **Discover**.

  <Step title="Set the date and time">
    Tap the **date and time** at the top and define when you need your study space. You have two options:

    * **Specify a duration:** enter the desired number of hours under Duration (e.g. 3 hours). anny then shows you all spaces available for this duration at some point on the selected day.
    * **Choose an exact period:** define a fixed start and end time and set the duration to **Full period**. This way you see only spaces free exactly within this window.

    Pick a free time slot for your favorite study space and click **Complete**.

## Book a study space via the map view

  <Step title="Open Discover">
    Open the anny app or the booking page and go to **Discover**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the date and time filter">
    In the date and time filter, define when you want to study.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a space on the map">
    Scroll across the interactive map, tap your favorite space and click **Book now**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the booking">
    Check your booking in the overview and confirm with **Complete**.

## Check-in with location validation

Many universities use self-check-in with location validation. Here is how you check in on-site yourself:

    In your phone settings for the anny app, enable the **Precise Location** function (iOS) or **Use precise location** (Android).

  <Step title="Check in">
    Open your booking in the app and tap **Check in**. anny automatically checks whether you are at the right location.

<Warning>
  Without precise location enabled, check-in can fail. Make sure the permission is granted before check-in.

## Use the weekly planner

Favorite your favorite spaces under **Discover** and plan your study week in the **Planner**. There you see all favorite resources in the week view and book in a few clicks.

  <Accordion title="I can't find a free study space">
    Try adjusting the time filter: choose a different day or a shorter duration. During peak times, spaces fill up quickly.

  <Accordion title="My check-in fails">
    Check whether you have enabled precise location for the anny app. Also make sure you are inside the building and have GPS reception.

  <Accordion title="Which data region do I need to select?">
    Most German universities use the **EU+** region. If you are unsure, ask at your library.

  <Accordion title="Can I cancel my study space?">
    Yes, under **Bookings**, open the respective reservation and tap **Cancel**. Note any cancellation deadlines of your university.

> Important information for agents:
>
> * Target group: students at universities with anny study space booking
> * Data region at login: almost always EU+ for DACH universities
> * Check-in with location validation: must be enabled by the admin per resource. The end user must allow "Precise Location" in the device settings
> * All-day option: depends on the library's schedule configuration (e.g. 6:00 to 23:00)
> * Communities: students are usually assigned automatically to a university community (SSO/Shibboleth)
