# Connect SALTO KS with anny

> Automate time-limited access via the SALTO KS app, PIN code or Remote Open for bookings and communities.

[SALTO KS](https://saltosystems.com/de-de/technologieplattformen/salto-ks/) is a cloud-based access system for electronic door locks. With this integration, anny automatically creates matching access permissions for bookings and community members.

With SALTO KS you can do the following in anny:

* create access automatically based on bookings
* give community members access to selected locks
* provide time-limited access via the SALTO KS app, a PIN code or Remote Open

The integration is especially useful for rooms, workspaces and coworking areas that should be used without a manual key handover.

<Info>
  Available from the **Professional plan** onwards.

## Typical use cases

| Use case                     | Description                                                                                                               |
| :--------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Open rooms after a booking | **Customers automatically receive time-limited access.** anny links the booked resource with the selected SALTO KS locks. |
| Access for community members | **Members get access independently of individual bookings.** You assign one or more locks to a community. |
| Enable access without an app | **A PIN code replaces the login in the SALTO KS app.** This requires a compatible lock with a keypad. |

## How the SALTO KS connection works

You authorise anny with a SALTO KS admin account. After that, anny can load the available locks and create time-limited access permissions based on your rules.

With a booking rule, you link an anny resource with one or more locks. anny creates the access for the defined time window before, during and after the booking. If a booking is cancelled, anny also revokes the related access permission.

For single bookings, anny creates the access immediately. For recurring bookings, anny only prepares each access shortly before the appointment. Until then, the access permission has the status **Scheduled**.

With a community rule, the members of the selected community get access to the assigned locks. If the authorisation is revoked or is no longer valid, anny cannot create new access permissions. In that case, authorise the integration again.

## Connect SALTO KS

### Requirements

Before you connect SALTO KS, make sure you have the following:

* a set up SALTO KS admin account
* at least one lock configured and tested in SALTO KS
* the **Professional plan** or higher in anny
* a configured resource or community that you want to link with a lock

### Set up the connection

<Steps>
  <Step title="Authorise">
    Open **Integrations** from the menu bar and go to **SALTO KS**. Click **Authorise** and sign in with your SALTO KS admin account.

    This view shows where you open the SALTO KS integration and start the authorisation:

    ![Open and authorise SALTO KS in the integrations](https://downloads.intercomcdn.eu/i/o/5781272/b5c7d0477181a1036f5a1fd6/Frame+3.png?expires=1785256200\&signature=8e01c8a85e1c95076dbcfd529a355b2aa8bb3237348907d2a34ca8e3c54114d7\&req=1dJnxFr9rnsp0xr0v9tnrl6Rm7yqGXy6kO7CgXIgWKHlA7bI9Vs2%2FElHBknX%0A9mc8UyZBWkJcKTQ%3D%0A)
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select the site">
    After the authorisation, select the **site** the integration should work with. It determines which locks are available in anny. You can only use one site per integration.

    If you change the site later, anny removes all existing rules.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure">
    Then define the rules for your access permissions:

    1. Click **Add** under bookings or communities.
    2. Select the resource or community.
    3. Assign one or more SALTO KS locks.
    4. For booking rules, define **Access before the booking** and **Access after the booking**.
    5. With a compatible keypad, activate **Use keypad access** for PIN access if needed.
    6. If needed, activate **Use remote opening** so customers can open the lock directly from anny (this requires a connected IQ with active OTP).

    This view shows the rule for booking-based access:

| Use remote opening | Creates remote opening access instead of app or PIN access, so customers can open the lock from anny. |

### Remote Open

With Remote Open, customers can open door locks through anny at the push of a button. You activate remote opening per booking rule with the **Use remote opening** switch. This requires an IQ connected in anny with a completed OTP setup. Only then are the related locks available for remote opening.

| Place | Where do you open the door? |
| -------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Email | The **Open** button in the booking email takes you to the browser. There you open the lock. |
| anny app | The **Unlock lock** button appears on the home page and in your booking. |
| Browser | The **Unlock lock** button appears on the home page and in your booking. |

Remote opening is only available for booking rules. Community rules offer access via app or PIN, but no remote opening.

### Check access permissions

Open a booking and select the related access permission. There you see the status, the access period, the door lock, the creation date and, where applicable, the PIN code. You can also copy the access URL.

The booking detail view shows active and inactive access permissions:

| ----------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Scheduled | The access is created shortly before the appointment. This status mainly occurs with recurring bookings. |
| In progress | anny has requested the access, but SALTO KS has not granted it yet. |
| Successful | The access is active and can be used within the displayed period. |
| Removed | The system or an admin has removed the access. The person can no longer open the lock. |

## Limitations

The SALTO KS integration does not support:

* PIN access at locks without a compatible keypad
* creating new access permissions if the integration is deactivated or no longer authorised
* using smart lock integrations in a plan below Professional

The number of available access permissions can also depend on your SALTO KS contract.

## Disconnect

<Warning>
  If you want to keep existing access credentials but stop new ones from being created, deactivate the integration. If everything should be reset and deleted, delete the integration.
</Warning>

You can do both under **Integrations**: deactivate via the **toggle** in the top right, delete via the **three dots** → **Delete**.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="No access was created for my booking">
    Check in the booking detail view whether an access permission exists. Then check under **Integrations → SALTO KS** whether the integration is active and authorised and whether the resource is assigned to a rule. For recurring bookings, the access is first set to **Scheduled** and is only created shortly before the appointment.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My SALTO KS locks are not displayed">
    First check whether you have selected a **site** under **Integrations → SALTO KS**, because only then are locks available. Then check whether the locks are set up and working in the SALTO KS admin area. If needed, authorise the integration again so anny reloads the available locks.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The PIN code does not open the door">
    Check whether the lock has a compatible keypad and whether the access period has already started. Then compare the PIN code with the booking confirmation and the access permission in the booking detail view.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Remote opening does not work">
    Remote opening requires a connected IQ with an active OTP setup. Check the **Possible errors** column in the rule overview: if it says "OTP inactive", set up the IQ and OTP under **Integrations → SALTO KS** and activate the **Use remote opening** switch in the rule.
  </Accordion>

> Important information for agents:
>
> **Classification:** SALTO KS is a smart lock or access integration (subgroup "Access & smart locks"), technically an access control integration like Nuki, klever-key, Comydo, UniFi Access, Key Cafe. Plan gating via the feature INTEGRATIONS\_SMART\_LOCKS (according to the article from Professional onwards; the exact plan boundary cannot be verified from the code).
>
> **Setup order:** menu bar → **Integrations** → **SALTO KS** → **Authorise** (OAuth, SALTO KS admin account) → select **site** (mandatory; determines the available locks; only one site per integration; changing the site deletes all booking rules) → optionally **connect IQ** + **activate OTP** (requirement for remote opening) → create rules under "Access through bookings" / "Access through communities".
>
> **Rule fields (booking):** resource, locks (selection label "Select cylinder", column "Locks"), "Access before the booking", "Access after the booking", switch "Use keypad access" (column "Uses keypad PIN"), switch "Use remote opening" (column "Remote opening"), warning column "Possible errors" ("OTP inactive: {lock} ({IQ})"). Community rules have NO remote opening switch, only keypad or app.
>
> **Access types per rule (exclusive):** remote opening (REMOTE\_OPEN, button "Unlock lock"; the email button "Open" leads to the booking page) OR keypad PIN (PIN + "#") OR SMARTPHONE\_APP (invitation to the booking email address).
>
> **Quirks:** (1) Only accepted bookings with a customer trigger access; internal blockers do not. Blocker → booking creates access, booking → blocker removes it. (2) A booking rule on a parent resource also applies to sub-resources. (3) Only one booking rule is allowed per resource (a duplicate resource is rejected when saving). (4) Single bookings: access immediately. Recurring bookings: access "Scheduled", created about 48 h before the access starts. (5) Single bookings receive an additional access email, recurring bookings do not. (6) Community access permissions have no end date; missing access permissions for existing members can be added via "Create missing access permissions …". (7) Changing the locks or resource of a rule, or deleting a rule, automatically adjusts or removes future access permissions. (8) Deactivating: no new access permissions, existing ones remain. Deleting: internal access permissions are removed and resource links are released.
>
> **Status values:** Scheduled, In progress, Successful, Removed, Unconfirmed, Failed, Not authorised, Cleaning up.
>
> **Access detail view** ("Smartlock access" in the booking): status, access starts / ends on, door lock, created on, copy access URL, "Show access at provider", and for remote opening "Unlock lock".
>
> **Terminology:** the UI mixes "cylinder" (selection), "locks" (column), "door lock" (detail) and "access" / "Smartlock access" (detail) alongside the article term "access permission". For access in general, see the overview "Access & smart locks".
