# Connect Purpleview with anny

> Connect Purpleview with anny and automatically send video consultation links with every confirmed booking.

[Purpleview](https://www.purpleview.de) is a provider for professional video consulting, used by organizations such as public administrations and advisory services to run appointments by video. With the integration, anny automatically creates a personal video appointment link to your Purpleview environment for every matching confirmed booking.

With Purpleview you can, inside anny:

* Automatically equip every confirmed booking with a personal video appointment link
* Assign resources and services to individual consultation groups and appointment types through rules
* Provide customers with the link directly via the booking confirmation and the calendar entry

The integration is especially handy for citizen service centers, advisory services, and service teams that want to make their appointments bookable through anny and run them directly by video.

| Public administration citizen service | **Video appointments for matters such as vehicle registration or student financial aid.** Customers book an appointment online and receive the consultation link automatically with the booking confirmation. |
| Departments with their own consultation groups | **Every resource leads into the right consultation group.** Through the group hash and appointment type of the rule, each appointment lands with the right team in Purpleview. |
| Hybrid appointment offerings | **Only selected services get a video link.** Through the service filter of the rules, on-site appointments stay without a link and online appointments get one automatically. |

## How the Purpleview connection works

The connection is based on a shared secret key, the **Shared Secret**. You generate it in anny and store it in your Purpleview environment. anny does not call any Purpleview interface and does not read any data from your Purpleview environment. Instead, for every matching booking, anny creates a link signed with the shared secret, which Purpleview verifies when it is opened.

The process:

1. A booking is completed. Only confirmed bookings with an assigned customer get a link.
2. anny checks whether a rule matches the resource and service of the booking. Rules on a parent resource also apply to bookings of its sub-resources.
3. If a rule matches, anny creates the video appointment link and attaches it to the booking. Customers see it as a **Join online appointment** button in the booking emails and in the calendar entry. You find it in the booking details via **Open meeting**.

The link contains the customer's name, the appointment type, the start time, and an appointment ID. This data is only transmitted to Purpleview when someone opens the link.

anny keeps the link up to date automatically: if a booking is rescheduled, moved to a different resource, or its status changes, anny replaces the link with a new one. On cancellation, decline, or deletion, anny removes the link from the booking. If a booking is confirmed only later, the link is created at the moment of confirmation. Recurring bookings get their own link for each appointment.

If you regenerate the shared secret, previously created links no longer match the new secret. As soon as Purpleview uses the new secret, the old links stop working.

## Connect Purpleview

### Requirements

Before you connect Purpleview, make sure you have the following:

* Your own Purpleview environment with a base URL and tenant hash
* The group hashes of your consultation groups and the labels of the appointment types from Purpleview
* The ability to store the shared secret from anny in your Purpleview environment (clarify this with your Purpleview contact)
* Admin rights in your anny account

### Set up the connection

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enter the basic data">
    Open **Integrations** from the menu bar and go to **PurpleView**. Enter the **base URL** of your Purpleview environment and the **tenant hash**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Generate the shared secret">
    At **Shared Secret**, click **Generate secret**. Copy the secret immediately, because it is shown only once. Then store it in your Purpleview environment.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create rules">
    In the **Rules** section, click **Add**. Choose the **resource**, optionally individual **services** (without a selection, the rule applies to **All services**), and enter the **group hash** and **appointment type** from Purpleview. Save with **Confirm**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activate the integration">
    Activate the integration via the **toggle** in the top right.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Once the integration is active, every new confirmed booking with a matching rule automatically gets its video appointment link.

<Tip>
  Test the setup with a test booking: check whether the **Join online appointment** button appears in the confirmation email and whether the link opens your Purpleview environment.
</Tip>

### Settings & options

| Setting          | Description                                                                                                                   |
| :--------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Base URL | Address of your Purpleview environment. It forms the start of all created links. |
| Tenant hash | Identifier of your tenant at Purpleview. It is part of every created link. |
| Shared Secret | Secret key for signing the links. Via **Generate secret** or **Regenerate secret** you create it anew; it is shown only once. |
| Resource | The resource the rule applies to. Rules on a parent resource also apply to its sub-resources. |
| Services | Optional filter: the rule only applies to the chosen services. Without a selection, it applies to **All services**. |
| Group hash | Identifier of the Purpleview consultation group the appointment leads to. |
| Appointment type | Label of the appointment type that Purpleview assigns to the appointment (for example, vehicle registration). |

<Tip>
  Create rules that are as unambiguous as possible per resource. If more than one rule matches a booking, anny uses the first matching rule created.
</Tip>

## Limitations

The Purpleview integration does not support:

* **Calendar or data sync:** anny does not create appointments in Purpleview and reads no data there. All information sits in the link and is only transmitted when it is opened.
* **Separate moderation link:** anny creates exactly one link per booking; your team and your customers use the same link.
* **A real connection test:** **Test connection** only checks whether the base URL, tenant hash, and shared secret are stored, not whether the values are correct on the Purpleview side.
* **A dedicated link email:** The link is shared solely via the regular booking emails and the calendar entry; there is no separate notification.
* **Name changes:** If the customer's name changes afterwards, the existing link keeps the old name. Only an appointment or status change creates a new link.

## Disconnecting

<Warning>
  If you deactivate the integration, anny no longer creates new video appointment links. Already created links remain on the bookings and are no longer updated or removed on changes or cancellations. When you delete it, settings, rules, and the shared secret are removed; already created links also remain. If you want to invalidate existing links, change the stored secret in your Purpleview environment.
</Warning>

You can do both under **Integrations**: deactivate via the **toggle** in the top right, delete via the **three dots** → **Delete**.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Where do my customers see the video appointment link?">
    As a **Join online appointment** button in the booking emails and as a link in the calendar entry of the booking. You yourself find it in the booking details in the **Calendar synchronizations** section via **Open meeting**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when a booking is rescheduled?">
    anny automatically replaces the link with a new one carrying the updated start time. The current link is in the latest booking email and in the booking details; older emails still contain the previous link.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do unconfirmed booking requests get a link?">
    No. Only confirmed bookings with an assigned customer get a video appointment link. If you confirm a request later, anny creates the link at the moment of confirmation.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when I regenerate the shared secret?">
    You have to store the new secret in your Purpleview environment as well. Existing links were signed with the old secret and stop working as soon as Purpleview uses the new secret. Therefore, only generate the secret when you really want to replace it.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Bookings get no video appointment link">
    Cause: the integration is deactivated, no rule matches, or the booking is not confirmed or has no assigned customer. Check the **toggle** of the integration and the rule: do the resource and service match? For sub-resources, set the rule on the parent resource.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The link shows an error at Purpleview">
    Cause: the signature or the identifiers do not match, for example because the shared secret was regenerated but not stored at Purpleview, or because the base URL, tenant hash, or group hash are incorrect. Compare the values with your Purpleview environment and, if needed, store a freshly generated secret on both sides.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Customers open a link with an old time">
    Cause: the link comes from an older email from before the appointment change. The current link is in the latest booking email and in the booking details; share it again if needed.
  </Accordion>

> Important information for agents:
>
> **Distinction:** Purpleview is one of the video meeting integrations (category "Online meeting integrations") alongside Zoom, MS Teams, and anny Video Calls. Unlike Zoom/MS Teams, there is no API or OAuth connection and no appointment exchange: anny only creates locally signed links (HMAC over group hash, appointment ID, customer name, appointment type, and start timestamp with the shared secret).
>
> **UI paths & wording:** Menu bar → **Integrations** → tile "PurpleView" (UI spelling with a capital V; the UI description text calls the Purpleview platform "empathy"). Panel "PurpleView settings": fields "Base URL", "Tenant hash", row "Shared Secret" with button "Generate secret" or "Regenerate secret" (modal note: "Copy this secret now. It will not be shown again."). Panel "Rules" → button "Add"; dialog "Create rule"/"Edit rule" with fields "Resource", service selection (placeholder "All services"), "Group hash", "Appointment type" (placeholder "EWID, KFZ, BAFOEG..."), save via "Confirm". Table columns: "Resource", "Services", "Group hash", "Appointment type". Three-dot menu: "Activate integration"/"Deactivate integration", "Test connection", "Remove authentication" (visible only when the integration is deactivated; deletes the stored shared secret), "Delete". Booking details: panel "Calendar synchronizations" → button "Open meeting". Resource detail page → Integrations → panel "Online meeting integrations" lists integrations whose rules use the resource.
>
> **Quirks:** (1) With multiple matching rules, the one created first wins; there is no sorting function for rules. (2) The rule matching always runs against the topmost resource of the booking. (3) Every relevant change (resource, status, start, end) creates a completely new link with a new appointment ID; old links from earlier emails are not technically invalidated because their signature remains valid. (4) In the calendar entry (ICS), the link is a "Join Meeting" line in the description; the email button is called "Join online appointment". (5) In the booking details, the source of the link entry appears as "anny", not "Purpleview". (6) Link creation requires a non-empty customer name. (7) Recurring bookings: one separate link per series appointment, no link for the series master.
>
> **Relationships:** Enabled via the same plan feature as all video meeting integrations (Zoom, MS Teams, anny Video Calls); the plan assignment is not documented in the article. Related articles: zoom, ms-teams, anny-video-calls.
