# Set Up Card Readers & Tap to Pay in the POS App

> Connect your reader to the anny POS app and take payments right on the spot.

With the anny POS app, you process your users' card payments right at the point of sale (POS). To do this, you simply connect a compatible reader over the network or via Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can use Tap to Pay on Android tablets to accept contactless payments with no extra hardware at all.

## Who it's for

This setup is ideal for admins and staff who take physical payments on site.

* Coworking spaces with walk-in customers and day passes
* Advisory services where payment happens right after the appointment
* Event check-ins with last-minute ticket sales at the door

In short: perfect for anyone who wants to offer a professional, seamless payment experience at the front desk.

## Where to find the feature

You set up your device once in the anny POS app during the payment process (checkout).

**Requirements:**

* You've downloaded the **anny POS app** from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
* You have a Stripe S700/S710 (network), a BBPOS WisePad 3 (Bluetooth) or a supported Android tablet.

<Warning>
  The anny POS app is currently available exclusively for tablets (iPad OS and Android). Smartphones are not supported.

Now choose the right guide for your setup to complete pairing:

### Set up the Stripe S700/S710 network reader

Connect your [Stripe S700](https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/setup-reader/stripe-reader-s700-s710#settings) to power and switch it on. The device needs an active Wi-Fi connection.

1. Swipe right on the reader's display and open **Settings**.
2. Enter the default admin PIN **07139**.
3. Connect the reader to your local Wi-Fi.
4. Tap **Generate Pairing Code** to create a pairing code.
5. In the anny POS app, go to **Pair reader** at checkout.
6. Choose the **Network** option and click **Pair new reader**.
7. Enter the generated pairing code in the app.
8. Your reader is now paired successfully and stays available at checkout under "Payment methods".

### Connect the BBPOS WisePad 3 Bluetooth reader

If you use the compact [Bluetooth reader](https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/setup-reader/bbpos-wisepad3), setup is especially quick.

1. Switch on the BBPOS WisePad 3 using the power button.
2. In the anny POS app, go to **Pair reader** at checkout.
3. Choose the **Bluetooth** option and click **Pair new reader**.
4. Wait a moment. The device now connects automatically to your tablet and is then available as a payment method.

### Enable Tap to Pay on an Android tablet

If you don't have an external reader, you can use [Tap to Pay](https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/payments/setup-reader/tap-to-pay?platform=android#device-types). This works on selected Android tablets:

| Manufacturer   | Model             |
| -------------- | ----------------- |
| HMD Global     | HMD T21           |
| Samsung Galaxy | Tab Active5       |
| Sunmi          | CPad              |
| Oukitel        | RT3 Plus          |
| Ulefone        | Armor Pad 4 Ultra |

1. Open the anny POS app and create a booking up to checkout.
2. Click **Pair reader**.
3. Choose the **Tap to Pay** option.
4. Your tablet is now set up to receive payments. To pay, customers simply hold their card or smartphone directly against your tablet.

## When it makes sense

* The one-time hardware setup makes sense when you handle regular customer traffic at a fixed location.
* When you have walk-in customers who want to book and pay on site right away.
* When you let customers settle open invoices for existing bookings at the front desk.
* When you need a professional setup for direct customer contact.

After this quick configuration, your devices are ready to use for all future payments.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My Bluetooth reader connects, but the payment doesn't start.">
    After the first pairing, a Bluetooth reader (like the WisePad 3) often runs a short firmware update. The update can take a few minutes. Please wait until the device shows that it's finished on the display.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The reader has an empty battery or briefly stops working.">
    In this case, the anny POS app offers a fallback: a QR code appears on the tablet. The customer scans the code with their own smartphone, lands on the pay-later page and pays there independently with Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.
