# Mobile Notifications

> Send customers and hosts SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram messages about bookings, check-ins, and reminders.

With mobile notifications you reach your customers and hosts directly on their smartphones, in addition to email. Whether it is a booking confirmation, a reminder, or a note to the host that a visitor has arrived: SMS, WhatsApp, and Telegram make sure important messages do not get lost.

<Info>
  Available from the **Essential** plan. Each message sent is billed according to your current pricing.
</Info>

## How do mobile notifications work?

After you activate them in the account settings, you decide which channels (SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram) are used for which events. Customers decide for themselves at checkout whether they want to receive mobile notifications and through which channel.

### Available channels

| Channel  | Requirement                          |
| -------- | ------------------------------------ |
| SMS | Phone number in the customer profile |
| WhatsApp | Phone number in the customer profile |
| Telegram | Phone number in the customer profile |

### Available events

| Event                     | Description                                                                  |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Booking confirmation | Message on a successful booking |
| Booking updates | Changes to existing bookings |
| Booking reminders | Reminder before the booking starts |
| Self check-in             | Message on a successful self check-in                                        |
| Visitor checked in (host) | The host is informed as soon as a visitor checks in at the check-in terminal |
| Certificate notifications | Message when a certificate is issued |

<Tip>
  The option "Always send mobile notification" overrides the customer setting. Only activate it when your use case requires it (for example, in visitor management, where the host must be informed).
</Tip>

## When do I use this?

* **You offer services where customers must arrive on time (for example, hairdresser, practice)**: SMS or WhatsApp reminders significantly reduce no-shows.
* **Your company uses visitor management and the host must learn immediately that a guest has arrived**: The "Visitor checked in (host)" notification informs the host by SMS as soon as the guest signs in at the terminal.
* **Your customers do not read emails promptly**: A push message on the phone is noticed faster than an email in the inbox.
* **Not suitable for**: Purely internal planning without customer contact. Here, email notifications and the dashboard are enough.

## Relationship to other features

* **Check-In & Check-Out**: The "Visitor checked in (host)" event requires a check-in terminal with visitor management to be set up.
* **Broadcasting**: Broadcasting uses its own channels (email, SMS, push). Mobile notifications are transactional and event-based, broadcasting is proactive and campaign-based.
