# Connect LinkedIn Ads with anny

> Measure your LinkedIn campaigns: report page views and bookings as conversions to the Campaign Manager.

[LinkedIn Ads](https://www.linkedin.com/campaignmanager) is LinkedIn's advertising platform. Using the LinkedIn Insight Tag and conversion tracking, you measure how your campaigns perform. With the integration, anny connects your public booking pages to the LinkedIn Campaign Manager and reports what visitors do on your site.

With LinkedIn Ads in anny, you can:

* Report page views of your booking pages to LinkedIn and build retargeting audiences from them
* Pass bookings, cart steps and the checkout to LinkedIn as conversions
* Additionally report completions server-side, even when visitors do not accept marketing cookies

This way you see in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager which campaigns actually lead to bookings, and you optimize your budget in a targeted way.

<Info>
  This integration is part of conversion tracking and must be enabled for your plan. If it is not enabled, you see the integration but cannot activate it.

## Typical use cases

| Use case                             | Description                                                                                                                                                                                           |
| :----------------------------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Measure reach and build audiences | **The Insight Tag counts page views automatically.** With just the Partner ID, you measure how many people visit your booking pages and build retargeting audiences for new campaigns from them. |
| Prove bookings as a conversion | **Completed bookings are reported as a conversion.** You create a conversion action of type **Complete checkout** and see in the Campaign Manager which ad led to a booking, including the net value. |
| Capture conversions without a cookie | **The Offline conversion API reports completions server-side.** Even without marketing consent, anny attributes a booking to the matching ad click and reports it to LinkedIn. |

## How the LinkedIn Ads connection works

The integration has three areas that you find under **Integrations → LinkedIn Ads**:

* **LinkedIn Insight Tag**: Here you enter the **Partner ID**. It loads the Insight Tag on your booking pages and is required for activation.
* **LinkedIn Ads conversion tracking**: Here you create **conversion actions** that report individual events to LinkedIn as a conversion.
* **Offline conversion API**: Here you optionally store an **access token** that anny uses to also report completions server-side.

There are two reporting paths that complement each other:

**In the browser (Insight Tag).** As soon as customers accept the **Marketing** option in the cookie banner, anny loads the Insight Tag on all public booking pages of your organization: resource, service, explore, subscription and booking package pages, as well as checkout and confirmation page. This also applies to the embedded booking page (widget). No tag loads in the anny admin area. Without marketing consent, no script is loaded and no event is reported. If consent is withdrawn, tracking stops immediately without reloading.

**Server-side (Offline conversion API).** When someone clicks a LinkedIn ad, LinkedIn appends a click ID to the target URL. anny stores it on the first page view and attributes it to later completions for 14 days. If a booking, a subscription or a booking package occurs within this time, anny reports the conversion server-side to LinkedIn, independently of cookies. If a click ID is already stored, it is kept: the first click wins.

The connection is one-way. anny reports conversions to LinkedIn but does not fetch any campaign, budget or audience data back. Analysis happens in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.

| Data to LinkedIn                                                        | Direction                     | When                                                        |
| :---------------------------------------------------------------------- | :---------------------------- | :---------------------------------------------------------- |
| Page views, cart and checkout events | anny → LinkedIn (browser) | On the visit or event, only with marketing consent |
| Conversion rule, time, net amount, currency, click ID, event identifier | anny → LinkedIn (server-side) | On completion, when a click ID and access token are present |

anny transfers no names, no email addresses and no booking details. The event identifier contains the anny order number. The reported value is the net amount of the order, 0 for free bookings.

## Connect LinkedIn Ads

### Requirements

Before you connect LinkedIn Ads, make sure you have the following:

* Admin rights in your anny account and conversion tracking in your plan
* Access to the [LinkedIn Campaign Manager](https://www.linkedin.com/campaignmanager)
* The **Partner ID** from the Insight Tag: Campaign Manager → Data → Signal Manager → Insight Tag → "I use a tag manager"
* Optional per conversion the **Conversion ID**: Campaign Manager → Measurement → Conversion Tracking
* Optional an **access token** for the Offline conversion API: Campaign Manager → Data → Signal Manager → Direct API

### Set up the connection

<Steps>
  <Step title="Enter the Partner ID">
    From the menu bar, open **Integrations** and go to **LinkedIn Ads**. In the **LinkedIn Insight Tag** panel, enter your **Partner ID**. It may only contain the characters specified by LinkedIn, otherwise the integration cannot be activated.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create conversion actions (optional)">
    In the **LinkedIn Ads conversion tracking** panel, click **Add conversion action**. Choose the **Event type** and enter the matching **Conversion ID** from LinkedIn. For pure reach measurement, you do not need an action: the Insight Tag counts page views on its own.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up the Offline conversion API (optional)">
    In the **Offline conversion API** panel, store your **access token** if anny should also report completions server-side. For the server-side reporting to take effect, at least one conversion action must also be created.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activate the integration">
    Activate the integration via the **toggle** in the top right. Only with activation does your booking page receive the Partner ID and the conversion actions.
  </Step>
</Steps>

As soon as the integration is active, the Insight Tag loads on your booking pages and reports events to LinkedIn, provided visitors accept the marketing cookies.

<Warning>
  Settings can only be changed while the integration is deactivated. As long as the integration is active, the **Partner ID** and **Add conversion action** are grayed out and anny does not accept the **access token**. The process for changes is always: deactivate, change, save, reactivate.
</Warning>

### Settings & options

| Setting       | Description                                                                                                                                                                       |
| :------------ | :-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Partner ID | The ID from your LinkedIn Insight Tag. Required for activation. Loads the Insight Tag on your booking pages. |
| Event type | The event that a conversion action reports in the browser: **View page**, **Add to cart**, **Start checkout** or **Complete checkout**. You can create several actions per event. |
| Conversion ID | The identifier of the conversion rule from the LinkedIn Campaign Manager. Every conversion action needs its own ID. |
| Access token | Optional token for the Offline conversion API. Only with it does anny report completions server-side, independently of cookies. |

<Tip>
  You only need a conversion action of type **View page** if LinkedIn should additionally count the page view as a conversion. For reach and retargeting audiences, the Partner ID alone is enough.
</Tip>

## Limitations

The LinkedIn Ads integration does not support:

* **Fetching data from LinkedIn:** The connection is one-way. anny reports conversions but does not fetch any campaign, budget or audience data back. You find analysis only in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
* **Visible conversion log:** anny does not visibly log individual conversion reports. You check whether a conversion has arrived in LinkedIn.
* **Browser tracking without consent:** The Insight Tag only loads when visitors accept the **Marketing** cookie option. Without consent, only the server-side Offline conversion API reports.
* **Personal data transfer:** anny transfers no names, email addresses or booking details to LinkedIn.

## Disconnect

<Warning>
  If you deactivate the integration, the Partner ID is removed from your booking page: the Insight Tag no longer loads and no more offline reports go to LinkedIn. When you delete, the Partner ID, conversion actions and access token are removed; anny automatically deactivates the integration first. In LinkedIn, your conversion rules and already reported conversions remain unchanged.
</Warning>

You can do both under **Integrations**: deactivate via the **toggle** in the top right, delete via the **three dots** → **Delete**.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need a conversion action to measure reach?">
    No. As soon as the Partner ID is stored and the integration is active, the Insight Tag counts page views automatically and you can build retargeting audiences. You only need conversion actions so that LinkedIn counts certain events as a conversion.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What is the access token for?">
    The access token activates the Offline conversion API. With it, anny reports completed bookings, subscriptions and booking packages server-side to LinkedIn, even when visitors have not accepted marketing cookies. Without a token, tracking runs only in the browser.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which data does anny send to LinkedIn?">
    In the browser, the Insight Tag reports page views as well as the events you created. Server-side, anny sends the conversion rule, time, net amount, currency, the LinkedIn click ID and an event identifier with the order number. Names, email addresses and booking details are not transferred.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use LinkedIn Ads together with other tracking integrations?">
    Yes. Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads and LinkedIn Ads can be activated at the same time. They share the same marketing consent in the cookie banner and the same events on your booking pages.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why do I not see a list of reported conversions in anny?">
    anny does not visibly log the individual conversion reports. You see whether and which conversions have arrived in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="LinkedIn shows no conversions">
    Check whether the integration is active and at least one conversion action with a valid Conversion ID has been created. For server-side reports, an access token must also be stored and the booking must have come from a LinkedIn ad click. Without a click ID, there is no offline conversion.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The Insight Tag does not load on my booking page">
    The Insight Tag only loads when visitors accept the **Marketing** option in the cookie banner. If the option does not appear, no tracking integration is active or Marketing was previously declined on purpose. Also check whether the Partner ID is entered correctly and the integration is activated.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I cannot save the Partner ID or the access token">
    As long as the integration is active, these fields are locked. Deactivate the integration first via the **toggle**, change the values, save and then reactivate. If the Partner ID is rejected ("Invalid tracking pixel"), it contains disallowed characters such as spaces or brackets.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

> Important information for agents:
>
> **Scope:** LinkedIn Ads is a pure tracking/conversion integration, not a data sync or calendar integration. anny reads no data from LinkedIn (one-way: only reporting of conversions). No visible conversion log in anny; control only in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager. Belongs to the group of tracking integrations together with Google Ads, Meta Ads and TikTok Ads (shared marketing consent, shared events).
>
> **UI paths:** Setup: menu bar → **Integrations** → **LinkedIn Ads**. Three panels: **LinkedIn Insight Tag** (field **Partner ID**), **LinkedIn Ads conversion tracking** (button **Add conversion action**; dialog with **Event type** + **Conversion ID**), **Offline conversion API** (field **Access token**). Activate/deactivate: **toggle** top right; delete: **three dots** → **Delete**. Event type options: **View page**, **Add to cart**, **Start checkout**, **Complete checkout**.
>
> **Quirks:** (1) Only the Partner ID is required; access token and conversion actions are optional. (2) The Partner ID is checked for allowed characters on activation; error "Invalid tracking pixel". (3) The Insight Tag loads on all public booking pages (resource, service, explore/organization, subscription, booking package, checkout, confirmation) incl. embedded widget, not in the admin area, and only with the marketing cookie option accepted. Withdrawal stops tracking immediately without reload. (4) The Insight Tag counts page views automatically; event type **View page** is only for additional conversion counting. (5) Conversion value = net amount + currency of the order, 0 for free bookings. (6) Offline conversion API: click ID is stored server-side on the first page view, valid for 14 days, first click wins (no overwriting, not even by other platforms). Reporting on completion of booking, subscription, booking package, separately per order, independently of cookie consent. Without a click ID no offline conversion (a pure UTM link is not enough). (7) Server-side reporting sends: conversion rule, time, net amount, currency, click ID, event identifier with order number; no names/emails/booking details. (8) Settings only changeable while the integration is deactivated; process deactivate → change → save → activate. Changes only take effect on activation. (9) Deactivating removes the Partner ID from the booking page and stops both reporting paths; deleting deactivates automatically first and removes all fields, LinkedIn-side rules/conversions remain.
>
> **Relationships:** Plan gating via feature "Conversion Tracking" (concrete plan not derivable from the code, do not name it). The embedded booking page (widget) additionally sends tracking events to the parent page (postMessage principle), independently of LinkedIn and without anny cookie consent, since no data goes to LinkedIn in this case. Data protection: click ID is stored server-side for 14 days and reported to LinkedIn on completion even without marketing consent (consistent with utm-tracking.mdx "Offline Conversion API"); check legal/data protection notes.
