# Create and Manage Global Blockers

> Create global blockers to lock multiple resources for a period at once.

With global blockers, you lock several or all of the resources in your account for a specific period at once. This is especially useful for public holidays, company closures, or maintenance windows when no bookings should be possible.

<Tip>
  This setting is helpful when, for example, a room should be booked as a multi-day booking across a holiday weekend without the holiday preventing the booking.
</Tip>

## Check the result

Open the **calendar** in the admin area. Affected resources show the global blocker as a dashed, gray entry across the chosen period. On the booking page, the locked periods are no longer bookable for customers.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What is the difference between a normal blocker and a global blocker?">
    A normal blocker is created directly in the calendar by clicking and dragging and locks only a single resource. A global blocker is created in the account settings and can lock several or all resources at once.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Are resources created in the future automatically affected by a global blocker?">
    Yes, if you choose "All resources" as the target group. When you select specific groups or categories, only the resources assigned to that group or category at the time of the blocker are locked.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I set up holiday blockers for several states at once?">
    Yes, you can create several holiday blockers with different states. Each holiday blocker is configured separately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I delete a global blocker?">
    Go to **avatar** (top right) > **Account settings** > **Global blockers**. There you see all active blockers and can delete them individually. Alternatively, single blockers can be removed directly in the calendar.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="My global blocker locks all resources even though I only chose specific groups">
    Check whether the blocker was saved correctly by reopening it in the account settings. If the target group is set to "no restriction", edit the blocker and select the group again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Customers can book despite the blocker">
    Check whether the "Allow booking across a blocker" setting is enabled on the affected booking option. If it is, deactivate this option in the advanced settings of the booking option.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Holiday blockers do not appear in the calendar">
    Make sure you set the calendar to the correct period. Holiday blockers are only created for the chosen period (for example 30 days). If the holiday falls outside this period, extend the setting to "whole year".
