# anny Display App

> Turn tablets and smart TVs into interactive room displays with live status, ad-hoc booking, and check-in.

The anny Display App shows the occupancy status of your resources in real time, right where they are. Your team sees at a glance whether a room is free or in use, and can book directly on the display via touch, anny Pass, or NFC.

<Info>
  First activate the **Display Boards & Room Displays** feature under **Account Settings** → **Features**.
</Info>

## How does the Display App work?

The Display App runs as a standalone application on a tablet or smart TV and connects to your anny account via a 6-digit pairing code. After pairing, you choose which resources appear on the device (widgets) in the admin area under **Displays**. The display updates in real time: bookings, check-ins, and status changes are applied instantly.

The basic flow:

## When do I use this?

* **You want to equip meeting rooms with a door display**: The Display App shows the current status and enables spontaneous bookings right on the spot.
* **You want your team to book a free room quickly without logging in**: With guest mode or anny Pass, a booking takes just seconds.
* **You run phone booths or focus rooms that are used spontaneously**: Short ad-hoc bookings (10, 20, 30 minutes) are offered directly on the display.
* **Not suitable for**: Pure overview displays without an app installation (for example on a smart TV via browser). Use [URL Display Boards](/en/url-display-boards) for that.

## How it connects with other features

* **Check-In & Check-Out**: Activate check-in on the resource so bookings without a check-in expire automatically after a defined time and the room is released.
* **Communities**: Community permissions also apply at the display. This lets you restrict access to certain rooms.
* **Maps & Interactive Floor Plans**: Choose the map view as the default view to display resources visually on the display.

## Settings & options

| Setting (Admin)     | Description                                    |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| Display name | Internal name to organize your devices |
| Default view | Map or grid |
| Anonymization | Hide booking descriptions on the display |
| Allow interaction | Enable bookings directly on the display |
| Sleep Mode | Active days, start/end time, and brightness |
| Widgets | Resources shown on the display |
| Widgets per page | Number of resources per page (auto-pagination) |
| Alternative widgets | Show fallback resources when occupied |
| Ad-hoc bookings     | Quick booking with pre-calculated time slots   |
| Guest mode | Allow booking without logging in |

<Tip>
  The ad-hoc buttons are calculated from the minimum duration, maximum duration, and booking interval of the first connected booking option. Recommendation for meeting rooms: min. 30 min, max. 8h, interval 15 min (which produces buttons: 15m, 30m, 45m).
</Tip>

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The display does not show all of the day's bookings">
    This can happen with recurring bookings when the series appointments have not yet been fully generated. Check in the admin calendar whether the bookings appear there correctly. If they do, restart the Display App to force synchronization.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The display dims even though the Sleep Mode times are correct">
    The Display App controls brightness only within the configured active times. Also check your operating system's power-saving settings (for example iOS Auto-Brightness or Android Adaptive Brightness) and disable them if needed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The pairing code is not accepted">
    The code is only valid for a limited time. Make sure you use the currently displayed code and that the tablet has an active internet connection. For anny.eu and on-prem: select the correct data host region in the app beforehand.
