# Set Up a Check-In Terminal

> Set up the anny Check-In app on a tablet and connect it to your resources.

With this guide, you set up a Check-In terminal that scans bookings via QR code, registers visitors and optionally prints badges. In the end, your terminal is ready to use and connected to your resources.

## Set up a Check-In terminal

<Steps>
  <Step title="Download the app">
    Download the **anny Check-In app** from the [App Store (iOS)](https://apps.apple.com/vn/app/anny-check-in/id6633442909) or [Google Play (Android)](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.anny.checkin) to your tablet.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pair the display">
    Open the app on the tablet. On first launch, a 6-digit code is shown. In parallel, open your anny admin area in the browser, navigate to **Displays** in the left navigation bar and click **Pair Display App** in the top right. Enter the 6-digit code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the mode">
    Open the paired display under **Displays** in the admin area and choose the appropriate **mode** (see the table below).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Assign resource(s)">
    Select one or more resources for the display. Make sure that Check-In is enabled for the selected resources under **Resource** → **Check-In** and that the availability is set to **Multiple availability**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Configure language and time zone">
    In the general display settings, set the correct **time zone** and choose one or more **supported languages**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Customize the design (optional)">
    Under **Start screen** and **Design**, adjust the welcome text, logo, background image/color and accent colors to match your corporate design.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set up a printer (optional)">
    Connect a printer via Bluetooth through the tablet settings. In the app, under **Settings** → **Printer**, select the connected device and the label type. Under the resource assignment, create a badge template (see the section below).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test">
    Run a test check-in: create a booking for an assigned resource and scan the QR code ticket at the terminal. Check whether the check-in is shown as successful.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Multiple terminals can be connected to the same resource. This way you can run, for example, 3 Check-In terminals in parallel when demand is high.
</Tip>

## Collect forms and legal documents at check-in

If a booking option uses **Later (at check-in)** for [legal documents](/en/legal-documents) or [custom forms](/en/custom-forms), the terminal asks for those details during check-in instead of at checkout.

1. The first scan returns that further details are required.
2. The guest completes the on-screen form (checkbox, signature, or custom fields).
3. The terminal submits the details and completes the check-in.

Devices that cannot show the dynamic form cannot finish check-in for those bookings until the details are collected on a capable client (for example the Check-In app or admin check-in).

See [Check-In & Check-Out](/en/check-in-overview) for the delayed form setting overview.

## Available modes

## Create a badge template (optional)

If you want to print a badge, label or ticket at check-in, create a template:

1. In the display's resource assignment, go to **Select** and create a new template.
2. Choose the format (recommended: "visitor badge upright 60x86" or "visitor badge horizontal 86x60").
3. Add text fields with variables (e.g. #FirstName, #LastName, #Company, #StartTime).
4. Optional: add a logo, a QR code (for check-out) or shapes.
5. Save the template.

Available variables: booking number, ticket code, start date, start time, end date, end time, check-in time, creation date, description, duration, price, resource, service, host name, full name, first name, last name, email, company, mobile number, street and house number, postal code, city.

<Warning>
  Make sure that fields used as a variable on the badge are configured as required fields in the checkout. Otherwise the field stays empty on the badge.
</Warning>

## Recommended hardware

| Category | Recommendation                                               |
