# Set Up Call Forwarding

> Forward calls from your existing phone number to your anny AI assistant, so your familiar number stays the same.

So your anny AI assistant can take calls without you changing your public phone number, you set up call forwarding. Incoming calls to your existing number are then forwarded automatically to the anny AI number.

## Requirements

* anny AI is activated and you have received your anny AI phone number (found under Organization settings > anny AI).
* You have access to your phone or to the management interface of your phone provider.
* The anny AI number is in international format (e.g. +49221...).

## Which type of forwarding suits you?

Depending on your situation, you can use different forwarding types:

| **Forwarding type**      | **Explanation**                                                                                        | **Suitable for**                                                                            |
| :----------------------- | :----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Immediate forwarding** | All calls are forwarded directly to anny AI. | Vacation, outside business hours, or whenever anny AI should take all calls. |
| **On no answer** | Calls are forwarded only after an adjustable number of seconds (e.g. 15–30 sec.) if you don't pick up. | Suitable for: you want to answer yourself when available, and anny AI takes over otherwise. |
| **On busy** | Calls are forwarded only when you are already on another call. | Suitable for: no call is lost, even while you're on the phone. |
| **On unreachable** | Calls are forwarded when your device is switched off or has no signal. | Suitable for: backup coverage during technical issues. |

<Tip>
  The most popular option is "on no answer". This way you can pick up the phone yourself if you want, and anny AI only steps in when you're unavailable.
</Tip>

## How to set up forwarding

Setup depends on your device or provider. Below you'll find the most common methods.

### Via GSM code (works with most mobile and landline providers)

Open the phone app and enter the matching code to activate forwarding:

| **Forwarding mode**                 | **GSM code**                     |
| :---------------------------------- | :------------------------------- |
| **Activate immediate forwarding**   | \**21*\[anny AI number]#         |
| **On no answer (after 20 seconds)** | \**61*\[anny AI number]\_11\_20# |
| **On busy**                         | \**67*\[anny AI number]#         |
| **On unreachable**                  | \**62*\[anny AI number]#         |

<Note>
  Always enter the anny AI number in international format (with +49 instead of 0).
</Note>

Open the phone app and enter the matching code to deactivate forwarding:

| **Forwarding mode**          | **GSM code** |
| :--------------------------- | :----------- |
| **Immediate forwarding off** | #21#         |
| **On no answer off**         | #61#         |
| **On busy off**              | #67#         |
| **On unreachable off**       | #62#         |
| **All forwarding off**       | ##002#       |

Open the phone app and enter the matching code to check the status:

| **Forwarding mode**                | **GSM code** |
| :--------------------------------- | :----------- |
| **Status of immediate forwarding** | \*#21#       |
| **Status on no answer**            | \*#61#       |
| **Status on busy**                 | \*#67#       |
| **Status on unreachable**          | \*#62#       |

<Tip>
  If you use call forwarding to anny, make sure the forwarding is set up directly in your phone provider's network. If the forwarding is configured locally on a device (for example a FRITZ!Box), the target device only transmits your own landline number instead of the caller's original phone number. anny then cannot correctly identify the caller.
</Tip>

### Via iPhone settings

1. Open Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
2. Turn on Call Forwarding.
3. Enter the anny AI number in international format.
4. Confirm your entry.

<Note>
  Via the iPhone settings, only immediate forwarding can be configured. For conditional forwarding (on busy, on no answer), use the GSM codes above.
</Note>

### Via Android settings

1. Open the phone app > Settings (three dots) > Call settings.
2. Tap Call forwarding.
3. Choose the forwarding type you want (always/on busy/on no answer/on unreachable).
4. Enter the anny AI number and confirm.

<Note>
  The exact path can vary depending on your Android version and manufacturer.
</Note>

### Via phone system or VoIP provider

If you use a phone system (e.g. Fritz!Box, Sipgate, Placetel, Starface), configure call forwarding in your provider's management interface:

1. Log in to your phone provider's admin interface.
2. Navigate to the call forwarding settings.
3. Enter the anny AI number as the forwarding target.
4. Choose the condition you want (always, on busy, on no answer).
5. Save the setting.

<Note>
  With VoIP systems, you can often set up time-based forwarding, for example only outside business hours. That way anny AI automatically takes over after hours.
</Note>

Once setup is complete, calls to your existing number are forwarded to anny AI according to the condition you chose. Your customers notice no change. They still call your familiar number and are connected automatically to your AI assistant.

<Tip>
  The number that forwards calls, for example the public number of your reception, cannot then be reused as a target for call transfer.

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Forwarding isn't working.">
    This can happen because the number was entered in national format (0221...) instead of international format (+49221...). To fix it, always enter the anny AI number with the country code.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Calls don't reach anny AI.">
    This can be because your mobile provider blocks forwarding to certain numbers, or the service isn't included in your plan. To resolve it, contact your provider and ask whether call forwarding to landline numbers is possible.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="You want to forward only calls you don't answer, but all of them are forwarded immediately.">
    This is because "immediate forwarding" is active instead of "on no answer". Deactivate immediate forwarding (#21#) and set up forwarding on no answer instead (\**61*\[number]\_11\_20#).
